Neural mechanisms to improve timing

چکیده

We use probabilistic techniques to study neural systems which improve the timing accuracy of action potential 'ring. A striking example of such accuracy was discovered in the columnar region of the VNLL by Covey and Casseday (J. Neurosci. 11 (1991) 3456). In response to sound stimulation, these VNLL cells 're an action potential whose latency under repeated trials has a standard deviation of approximately 100 s. This is remarkable because the typical standard deviation in the auditory nerve is 1 ms. In simple systems, we show how the improvement in timing depends on the number of incoming 'bers and the number of hits required in a small time window. c © 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Spike timing dependent plasticity: mechanisms, significance, and controversies

Long-term modification of synaptic strength is one of the basic mechanisms of memory formation and activity-dependent refinement of neural circuits. This idea was purposed by Hebb to provide a basis for the formation of a cell assembly. Repetitive correlated activity of pre-synaptic and post-synaptic neurons can induce long-lasting synaptic strength modification, the direction and extent of whi...

Direct and Indirect Timing Functions in Unilateral Hemispheric Lesions

Introduction: The neural substrates of temporal processing are not still fully known. The majority of interval timing studies have dealt with this subject in the context of “Explicit timing” (computing the time intervals explicitly). The hypothesis “Implicit timing” (implicitly using temporal processing to improve function) has also proposed. This lesion study addressed explicit and implicit ti...

Role of STDP in regulation of neural timing networks in human: a simulation study

Many physiological events require an accurate timing signal, usually generated by neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs). On the other hand, properties of neurons and neural networks (e.g. time constants of neurons and weights of network connections) alter with time, resulting in gradual changes in timing of such networks. Recently, a synaptic weight adjustment mechanism has b...

A Nonlinear Autoregressive Model with Exogenous Variables Neural Network for Stock Market Timing: The Candlestick Technical Analysis

In this paper, the nonlinear autoregressive model with exogenous variables as a new neural network is used for timing of the stock markets on the basis of the technical analysis of Japanese Candlestick. In this model, the “nonlinear autoregressive model with exogenous variables” is an analyzer. For a more reliable comparison, here (like the literature) two approaches of  Raw-based and Signal-ba...
